NFL Combine doctors noticed some valve problems with Brian Mandeville's heart
Mandeville, out of Northeastern, might have been one of the draft's top tight ends

INDIANAPOLIS -- Brian Mandeville, the talented small school tight end from Northeastern, may have seen his NFL career end before he ever suited up for a Sunday game.
During a routine exam at the combine doctors noticed something out of the ordinary with Mandeville's heart. A further inspection led combine doctors to the diagnosis that Mandeville may have an issue with one of his heart valves.
Mandeville has since been informed by the examining doctors here in Indianapolis that he should not play football moving forward, and it seems his dreams of playing in the NFL have likely ended.
His agent, Ryan Tollner of Rep 1 Sports Group, said just minutes ago that the medical issues now facing Mandeville are not life-threatening.
"Brian will fly back to California and be examined by heart specialists to completely diagnose the issue. Obviously his well being is priority number one at this time."
Tollner stated no one was aware of Mandeville's condition until combine doctors notified them of it. He did state at this time it seems unlikely that Mandeville will have a career in the NFL.
Mandeville was rated by SI.com as one of the nation's best small school prospects available in April's draft during a feature we did back on February 16th. He was noted as a player with starting NFL potential.
During an injury shortened senior season at Northeastern last year Mandeville caught 24 passes in eight games with a per catch average of 14-yards. As a junior the tight end caught 30 passes for 441 yards with five scores.
