Romo to serve as celebrity judge for restaurant contest

Mardi Gras madness coming to downtown McKinney

Let the good times roll at the 9th Annual Taste of Collin County benefiting North Collin County Habitat for Humanity.
Taste will be held on Monday, February 23rd, from 5:30 -9:30 p.m. in Historic Downtown McKinney. Fifty local area restaurants will be featured at the event. Tickets are available in McKinney at Valiance Bank, Legacy Bank of Texas, Market Street, Goodhues, Hoggy's, McAlister's Deli and Rockfish, in Celina at Brookshires Grocery Store, in Melissa at First National Bank, and in Frisco at Keller Williams and North Dallas Bank. Tickets are $25 ($30 at the door) Children are $10 and under 6 are Free. Tickets are also available at our website, www.tasteofcollincounty.com.
Current committed restaurants include: Aparicio's, Chipotle, Hoggys, Genghis Grill, Good Hues, Mama Emilia's, McAlister's Deli, Mom and Popcorn Company, Poppy's, Rosati's, Rockfish, San Miguel Grill, Smoothie King, and The Festive Kitchen. Many more to come.
Tony Romo, Steve Stoler, and Joe Riley, Land Manager of the Dallas Cowboys will serve as celebrity judges for the restaurant competition.
Feast to your hearts content on New Orleans delights such as crawfish etoufee, bread pudding, and king cake and specialties such as shrimp martini's, salmon skewers, corn chowder, carrot raisin bread, monterrey jack and green chili polenta, Ribs, beef tacos, pizza, Catfish and for those with a sweet tooth, dig into ice cream, cake, cookies and other featured delights.
There will be a beer and wine garden with beverages sponsored by Ben E Keith, Andrews Distributing, Nestle Water, Reddy Ice, and various wineries.
Featured entertainment for the evening will include; Maylee Thomas Band, EDS Jazz Band .
From her early days as a Gospel Singer, to her legendary status as a Texas Diva, Maylee transcends genre, mixing Gospel based blues with soul-driven rock, touches of pop with the very faintest caresses of country from time to time....and audiences respond. Maylee is the soul of Texas and a must see act.
Also on stage, will be McKinney's own Jimmy Barcus, a gifted acoustic rock aficionado, also brings his unique blend of favorites - ranging from America to Zeppelin - to the Taste stage. At the kids entertainment area children will be entertained in the Midway with bounce houses and obstacle courses from The Zone and Collin County Adventure Camp, St. Gabriels Clowns, face painting by Adventure Kids Playcare and lots of beads and a Mardi Gras Float.
Special features will include a live auction featuring Southwest Airlines round trip tickets for 2, a $2500 House Makeover, a weekend getaway package and a special room from the Roomstore.
