Players to watch tonight in Ravens-Cowboys game
LB DeMarcus Ware With an NFL-best 19 sacks, he is a prime candidate for Defensive Player of the Year and could join the MVP talk if he ties or sets the sack record (22.5). He has been on a roll, with seven sacks the past three games.
QB Joe Flacco The rookie has exceeded expectations and is a big reason the Ravens are in the playoff chase. But last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers was his worst game of the season, going 11-for-28 with 115 yards and two interceptions. It won’t get any easier tonight against the Cowboys, who lead the league in sacks.
WR Terrell Owens Running will be hard against the Ravens so the Cowboys will have to pass. The Ravens have small cornerbacks and the Cowboys should be able to exploit the matchups with big receivers Owens and Roy Williams. Owens needs 114 yards to reach 1,000 for the season.
QB Tony Romo He suffered a back injury in the first quarter last week, his third consecutive game taking punishment from a physical defense, following the Steelers and the New York Giants. The Ravens might be the most physical of all, led by linebacker Ray Lewis. The Cowboys offensive line will have to keep Romo upright.
KR Yamon Figurs Special teams have caused the Cowboys problems this season. With so much riding on this game and points expected to be at a premium, they can’t let a big return be a difference in the outcome. Ravens returner Figurs has game-breaking ability. The Cowboys are without Pat Watkins and probably without Bobby Carpenter, two key veterans on kickoff coverage.
