Archer Blog: Jason Wittens Numbers / Primtime not to Zorn/Redskins

More on Jason Witten's numbers
Todd Archer
Flipping through this week's press release, I noticed a breakdown of Jason Witten's catches over his career.
He has 82 this season, giving him at least 80 for the third straight season. The only other tight end to do that in NFL history was Todd Christensen, who did it four straight for the Raiders from 1983-86.
Christensen had seasons with receptions of 92, 80, 82 and 95 from 1983-86. Witten has had seasons with 96, 81 and 82 (and going) over the last three years. Witten has four 80-catch seasons in his career - he had 87 in 2004 - and only Christensen and Atlanta's Tony Gonzalez have as many among tight ends in league history.
I can't see Witten breaking his single-season high of 96 set in 2007, needing 15 over the last two games but maybe. He does have a 14-catch game this season (at NY Giants).

Primetime not kind to Jim Zorn, Redskins
Todd Archer
Part of me wonders if the Redskins wanted this game to be flexed out of NBC's "Sunday Night Football."
Washington is winless in six night games under second-year coach Jim Zorn. They have been outscored in those games, 149-62. They haven't scored more than 17 points in any of those games.
Now, the closest contest was last year vs. the Cowboys when Dallas left with a 14-10 win in Tony Romo's return from a broken pinky finger.
Here's a breakdown of Washington's night game losing streak:
2008
Sept. 4 at NY Giants, 16-7
Nov. 3 vs. Pittsburgh, 23-6
Nov. 16 vs. Cowboys, 14-10
Dec. 7 at Baltimore, 24-10
2009
Oct. 26 vs. Philadelphia, 27-17
Dec. 21 vs. NY Giants, 45-12
