First my boy ogletree how about the tip toe sideline catch he made, freakin beautiful. Also I love the way he used his body to make the corner bite . John Phillips made several catches but the one at the end of the game when he stayed in bounds and gained a extra 8 yds was beautiful and key! Cudos to the Rookies. Now some one tell me, Why dont these two get more time? Prossman

I dont know why we put Hurd in the game. Might as well keep OTree in there! Maybe we should have taken that number one for MartyB !cowboymaniac

I don't believe the Saints even considered Phillips a threat , but Marty definatley gets some attention. I love me some Hurd but Ogletree can be a very good starter for this team IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing Miles and Kevin as 1-2 with Hurd the #3.

You still have to rotate players and develop up total team strength. By the way, Hurd came through as he has often. He has a good set of hands, and where Roy Williams clunked in the manner of the departed TO.....did someone say TO?
Fans were clamoring as to why the Cowboys were NOT developing up and playing young players. Look again, Butler, Ball, Scandrick, Jenkins, Spencer, Free....all getting sizeable workloads as well as strentch run experience for the future. Already, the team's status at backup on the offensive line may be stable. There is even a third rounder on IR right now that might add to the offensive tackle picture come next season as well. There are also no less than three drafted 'rooks' at linebacker who may also have a place in the future of the Cowboy defense. Don't look now, but that defense is growing much stronger over the past two games. They have limited top producers in the entire NFL, to manageable games for the offense. Don't think that this offense can handle top defenses? Watch against Washington and then the Philadelphia game, and make your own observation then....
As to Ogletree, they have given him prominent game opportunities, and some working of him into roles where Roy Williams might have been on the field, might be smart. But Roy Williams might be more motivated himself, and he does have the talent to pick up and produce. He has been coming on strongly over the previous four games. He STILL could be a strong 1000+ producer by next season. We shall see here, but don't throw the baby out with the chord....
as to Phillips, wow. The double tight end set now has a permanent home in Dallas. Bring Bennett back, and even go three tight end, and pound the ball as well.

Ultimately, what the “Ogletree” discussion is about is…Roy.
When the Saints closed the gap to 14 points, and the Cowboys were faced with a 3rd and four with 11:00 left in the game, and Roy dropped that slant, I thought it was the beginning of the end for the Boys. The very slant that he was brought in here to run, the very 3rd down pass that he was brought here to Dallas to catch in big moments – and he failed. That was a huge momentum killer as the Cowboys were trying to respond to a Saints TD. And I would venture that he is extremely lucky the Cowboys won the game, or I guarantee that particular play would be being discussed at this moment.
I think the team (and a lot of Roy’s supporters) has been very patient with Roy’s development within this offense. I myself wonder if he will get much better. This team has played 14 games this season, and the prior couple of weeks have been Roys’s best. We say that he’s “coming around”, as if saying this can will him into the receiver that we want him to be. For all we know, he may have peeked during his two-week stretch. That may be the best we get from Roy Williams!
Roy Williams is why Kevin Ogletree is even a topic of conversation. If the man who was brought here played like a team’s “number 1 receiver”, then we wouldn’t be entertaining the thoughts of giving more playing time to a receiver that is what - fifth on our receiving depth chart?
I hate to sound as if I’m taking something away from Ogletree’s performances. In fact, I think he has delivered well above and beyond expectations. That out pattern he ran against the Saints was a thing of beauty, and the catch was extraordinary.
In a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league, Roy’s sub-par play should warrant more playing time for Kevin Ogletree. Ultimately, it’s about getting results, and about knowing at what point in a season to turn away from potential, and toward those who are making plays.
Romo’s face said it all after Williams’ drop harmlessly fell to the turf. If you had to give his look a caption, it would be “What more do you want me to do – catch it for you?” When does Tony lose faith? How ‘bout Garrett, Wade, or even Jerry? As for me, and I don’t count, I’m just hanging-on by a thread.

Totally agree Ark! Huurd is a total waiste of time as far as being a wr, ogletree should be #4 wr and only makes plays. Give the kid more shots, period. Prossman

Some of you think, K-Tree is the best thing since sliced bread.
I remember when, some of you were high on Randal Williams abilities too. Let alone Wane McGarity.
I'm not falling hook, line & sinker for Ogletree. If, he's so good? How come he wasn't drafted?

I think I am very close to being ready to let go of Roy E. He just doesn't seem to be what I had expected/hoped he could be. IMO Hurd is a solid possesion reciever with great hands and an outstanding ST player. Ogletree has all kinds of upside with his superior speed.

yuma, the money owed Roy is not insignificant. I believe we are probably stuck with him at least one more year because of the signing bonus.

With the likelyhood of a uncapped year, we could dump rw11s salary and the only thing it would hurt is Jerrys pocket book. Prossman
