ESPN Mosley: Eli's 'signature' win has riled up Cowboys
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LINK
Matt Mosley
Earlier this afternoon, Giants quarterback Eli Manning confirmed that he indeed signed a wall in the visiting locker room at Cowboys Stadium following his team's 33-31 win in Week 2. Under his name, Manning, the last guy in the league I'd ever expect to do this, wrote the words, "First win in the New Stadium."
Manning said that a locker room attendant furnished a pen and asked him to sign the wall, but that little detail doesn't matter to Cowboys linebacker Bradie James.
"We won’t forget that,” said James, who has expressed his hatred for the Giants this week. “It just makes for a more intense game."
Manning didn't seem overly worried about supplying the Cowboys with even more motivation to bury the Giants' playoff hopes.
"Yeah, I kind of heard a few things about it,'' Manning said. "I figure they'll eventually get over it."
The New York media is standing by their man on this story. Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger thinks this is much ado about nothing. I don't think it's a big deal either, but I find it funny that a buttoned-up guy like Manning would write that message on a wall. It's not like Cowboys locker room attendants go around forcing players to sign autographs against their will.
I think Manning was simply poking the Cowboys with a stick -- and that's fun to see. If the Cowboys win in their last trip to Giants Stadium, expect someone to document the victory in the visiting locker room. __________________
