Defense Finding That Killer Instinct? Posted by jellis at 11/30/2009 6:16 PM CST on truebluefanclub.com
A lot of talk earlier this year about the Cowboys defense lacking some innate ability to step on a team's neck in the closing moments of a game.
They just didn't have that killer instinct, it was said, evidenced in part by the New York Giants' game-winning drive, which began with 3:34 on the clock in the Cowboys Stadium grand opening.
Things have changed since then, though. The Cowboys defense hasn't allowed an opponent to score more than 21 points in any game since Week 2, even closing out a couple wins with turnovers at the end.
And what about this quote from a player some fans and media were calling soft the last time the Cowboys played in the Meadowlands last year. How's this for killer instinct?
"This is pretty much their season," cornerback Mike Jenkins said, not dancing around the importance of Sunday's 3:15 p.m. (CST) kickoff for the Giants. "If we beat them right now, we definitely don’t have to worry about them . . . We just need to get people out of the way that we don’t need to face, that could be a hassle with us during in the playoffs. And I think if we go in there and beat them this week, I think, we won’t have to worry about them in the playoffs."

If the Giants lose this game their season is over.
The NYC press is not working it up that much yet as Tiger Woods is pushing it to the back page and the Jets actually winning a game doing the same thing.
We just have to focus on not giving up big plays and we should prevail.

I'll take Jenkins against a smaller Smith, and wait to see what happens...I'm thinking that Eli hits the dirt a lot more this time around than last. As to the running of Jacobs, lots of luck running straight up and trying to start avoiding defenders also, this time around.
