New Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Curtis Not Missed by the Dallas Cowboys

The Kansas City Chiefs officially agreed to terms with Tony Curtis just one day before the draft on April 24th. His former team, the Dallas Cowboys, made no effort to re-sign him which means he sat on the open market for 55 days before a contract offer came in from the Chiefs.
In a Q&A session with the DallasCowboys.com staff (via NJChiefsFan in the FanShots), a reader asked why there hasn't been more talk of the Cowboys losing Curtis, who the reader says was a "hard worker" and could be the starting tight end in Kansas City. The answer might surprise you.
The Tony Curtis Fan Club hath spoken. Sorry Joey, I just don't agree with you that the Cowboys are going to miss him. Of their five restricted free agents, he was the only one the team didn't even attempt to re-sign. He had the physical tools to do the job, but you had to worry about where his head was sometimes. He was good for about one mental error a game - some obviously worse than others.
Interesting to note the mental errors reference considering that is pointed to as the biggest 'no-no' for the new Chiefs regime. Technically he could be the starter in Kansas City but there's certainly no definitive lead that this is the case.
Another staff writer, who didn't think the tight end was a starter in the league, brought up his lasting image of Curtis. Missing a block while in punt formation, which resulted in punter Mat McBriar breaking his foot. That must be the mental mistakes the first staff writer referenced.
For now, Curtis appears to be in the running for the Chiefs tight end job but his 11 career receptions are no guarantee he'll make the squad let alone be the starter.
