The Trenton Times reports Eagles QB Donovan McNabb looked into the camera with a straight face and said he had no idea Sunday's game was over when his desperation "Hail Mary'' attempt with no time left in overtime was knocked to the ground, forcing the Eagles to settle for a gruesome 13-13 tie against the lowly Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.
PK Shayne Graham missed a 47-yard field goal with seven seconds left on the previous play, a kick that would have given Cincinnati (1-8-1) just its second victory and saddled the Eagles (5-4-1) with one of the most embarrassing losses in franchise history.
Just to recap: McNabb, a 10-year veteran of five Pro Bowls, did not know only one overtime is played during the NFL regular season. "I've never been part of a tie,'' McNabb said. "I never knew that was in the rulebook. But it's part of the rules and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to the next opportunity of getting out there and trying to drive to win the game but unfortunately, with the rules, we settled with a tie.'' Seriously? "When the (last) play was called I kind of figured that there are ties in the NFL,'' McNabb, never blinking an eye, continued. "I didn't know that. I guess we're aware of it now.''

Although it is a rare occurrence, there should be another way to avoid the dreaded tie! If after playing a complete quarter of OT, and neither team score, why not march both Head Coaches out to the 50, and let em get after it. Last HC standing, they win. Jerry would be on the phone to Cowher ASAP.
