Looking over the updated depth chart, and I see that Brad Johnson and Sam Paulescu are listed as the top two holders. Johnson is first, and Paulescu is the backup. The depth chart is by no means the gospel, but surely they wouldn't activate the third-string quarterback just to be the holder, right?
Wade Phillips floated this idea on Monday that Johnson may indeed remain the holder. To do that, the Cowboys would have to make someone else inactive.
I'm looking over the roster trying to figure out who the Cowboys could do without after playing nine games with this person. Remember, you've got Kyle Kosier, Terence Newman, Felix Jones and Tony Romo coming back this week, too. Those are four more spots on the 45-man game roster.
Maybe Montrae Holland? Cory Procter goes back to being the backup center/guard with Kosier's return. But that leaves you a hole on kick return. Does Procter go there?
You could make a case for Justin Rogers being inactive. DeMarcus Ware rarely comes off the field, and the Cowboys want Anthony Spencer to spell both Greg Ellis and Ware.

I am stunned we have no back up plan at holder. What would have happened had BJ gone down? You have to have back up plans in these cases. Another blunder by "Captain's Coaching Crew" (I am refering to Wade Phillips from now on as "Captain Kangaroo"! LOL!)

The magic of being a rookie is quickly being extinguished on Stanback...as he has done nothing of note in two seasons up to here, yet. Does he have roster issues next camp?

I think next year will be Stanback's last chance to prove he belongs. I for one thought he'd be a stud weapon on Offense, instead he's been a pop rocket! I just hope he doesn't get over his injury issues some where else and becomes the nexy Jimmy Smith!

My money is on alan ball sitting this one out. With Tnew back there is no real reason to dress him. Stanback can be used in kick return duties and spot duty at wr. Prossman
