That is highly inaccurate in that the numbers reported are what was paid to each player for this year. That includes signing bonuses for new contracts, which constitutes the bulk of those numbers being reported. In other words, the $14M for Flozelle is actually $1M in salary and $13M in signing bonus for the contract he just signed. His actual cap hit for 2008 is only $3.1M. If you follow the link for the story and go to the Cowboys page on salaries you will see this detailed out. content.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/salaries/teamdetail.aspx?year=2008&team=10&loc=interstitialskipIt is actually a useless list and the USA Today writers are morons for reporting it that way.

No, Thumper...this particular progression of salaries received, was in conjunction with a total analysis of the return for the bucks spent this season. At the top of money spent was Oakland followed closely by Dallas. This money paid out this season. The third highest monies spent for this year, was by Minnesota who was a good $12M less than that spent by Dallas.
My interest in this was the amount that Jerry has forked over recently for the roster to have top level talent from which to work. That was some heavy movement of coin, and was huge in comparison to the rest of the NFL. Jerry cares a great deal, which might be the drawn conclusion. I won't comment on the other side of the coin involving irresponsible spending of funds implications.
