I sat here the last 2 days and listen to every cowboy expert and other experts in the media, sticking the fork in the Dallas cowboys. "The return of Tony Romo won't make a difference"! WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Have they been watching the same games the last 3 weeks as I have? Did they notice that BJ could barley throw a 9 yd pass, and did what no other team in the NFL could Do. Successfully take Witten, T O, crayton, Roy Williams, and miles Austin out of the game in one fell swoop. He also took MB3 out of the game for all intent and purposes cause every defense could run 8-11 men in the box. We have been running a red zone offense for 3 weeks, because we couldn't throw past 20 yds......ok 10 yds. What about Felix Jones, kosier, Newman, or the infamous pacman. I guess none of them will make a difference either. What a load of crap! Do you think we the fans were the only ones who knew BJ couldn't possibly overcome a 14 pt deficit? Come on people. They all knew it and it showed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our coaching staff sucks but let be honest here, who's team is it really? Wades? Wades to busy running around trying not to offend somebody. make no mistake about it, this is tony romos team. Emotionally they live and die with him. In reality they really have no one else to turn to for leadership. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of our injured players were on the brink of coming back now anyway. Now we have 2 full weeks to get them back in place and ready for the skins. We should be as close to full strength since game one & We have 2 weeks to prepare for the skins. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am excited to see Romo, T O ,whiten, Roy Williams and company on the field together for the first time. Hurd, Crayton, or Austin may have not been able to beat man to man coverage consistently but Roy Williams can. How bout that one handed catch he had verses the giants?!!! They Can not double Roy Williams and have 8 men in the box at the same time. It will be amazing how good our offensive line will look then. TO top it off we will have Felix Jones back on top of all that to terrify & reek havoc in the open field. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm I optimistic about the game vs the skins after the bye? hell yes I am. I just can't see How they can say Romo won't make a difference, and have a ounce of brains in their head! Prossman

Absolutely, Pross... No, we are dumb and ignorant on this game of rugby...I thought they were in a scrum when all of a sudden they ran to the ball. Go figure... Let's see, the Cowoys were averaging 300 yards per game via passing with Romo, and 120 a game with Brad Johnson. I wonder what going from a quarterback rating of around 50 to a QB rating of 103 would do for the position. Now, start over loading the line of scrimmage, and if memory serves me, Romo was pretty good at beating a blitz and overload situation. The fact that Roy Williams will be getting a lot closer to full speed and in the knowledge of 'Red' Garrett, and I just wonder what will evolve around that. Throw in a real offense that keeps the defense off the field at least ten more minutes than they were with Johnson going three, two, and one and out...plus much more real estate for the opponent to travel than after six interceptions in only two and a half games....yea. No difference what so ever...and as you stated, Pross, there is the fact of reintegrating ONLY SIX starters into their proper roles. Yep, those media analysts sure must be right, if they just had put down that crack pipe that they have been smoking, just after their favorite hooker was through....

Cowboy2112...first, thanks for joining us here. We really appreciate the Cowboy family. Pretty impressive as to your attendance at games...LOL, we all would love that ability to attend in person. A season ago, there was a pilgrimige by a group from a related site of most of these posters. A single game group affair.
Come back and join us if you are so moved...we talk football here, and love the Cowboys. True trolls are escorted to the far netherlands for their existence life...
Very nice to have you, and agreed, the whole storyline of our Cowboys has not been written. Kind of 'Chuckie' of the press, but that will be dealt with in due process...as they aren't above having a chink removed from that Ivory Tower they are setting theirselves up in. Mostly of their very own making at that...

The last 3 years the Cowboys are 4-5 without Tony Romo as the starter.
With him we are 23-9! But he doesn't make a difference? What nimrods! Anything to put the Cowboys down I guess. They are going to be wetting themselves when we go 6-1 over the rest of the season and make the playoffs again.
It is hard for a team to stay fired up when you've got a QB who everyone in the world except Jerry Jones KNEW should have retired after the 2006 season.
Jerry has tried to go the cheap route for a QB since he drafted Aikman with the first overall in 1989. The highest he has gone for a QB was Quincy Carter in 2001 with a 2nd rounder and that was too high for him.
Testeverde, Bledsoe, and now Brad Johnson were all over the hill when we brought them in and it has held the team back for too long now. We need to stop going after old guys and bring in younger talent and develop them.
Tomo was a happy accident, not a calculated risk. He was lucky to make the roster for a couple of years and if not for Tony Banks and Quincy Carter dropping off the radar he would have ended up somewhere else.
We have had opportunities to pick up some quality QBs in the last couple of drafts in the 3rd or 4th rounds and passed on them. QBs who stay healthy for all 16 games are rare and a team HAS to have a quality backup to step in when needed.
We are in the most competitive division in football and cannot afford to throw away a couple of games with a has-been back there while we wait for our star to return.
I was surprised when we didn't sign Leftwich prior to the start of the season as he was available and we supposedly wanted him when he was coming out of college. he looked darn good the other night when Big Ben went down. That's what we need to have. The Stealers have always tried to have quality backup QBs and it has done them well over the years. We have done just the opposite with losers like Laughenberg and the other old guys we've had. When we did have quality guys back there, Beuerlein, Kosar, Garrett, etc. it has helped us make it through when we needed them.
Landry & Co drafted a QB nearly every year. I want to see us draft a QB at least by the 4th round this year and groom him behind Romo. If he doesn't pan out then draft another one the following year and continue to do it until we find one.
Come on Jerry, get with the program and stop overspending for DBs and taking LBs in the first round start spending real money and draft picks where they are needed.
Note: For all you spell-checkers out there I spelled Stealers and Laughenberg that way on purpose.

Our Thump is back, and now, the Cowboys need to find their THUMP!
As Thumper has said, all the performance positions on the offense are filled by position, except for quarterback. There doesn't have to be a quarterback controversy in the development of a good backup. Green Bay has been doing that business at quarterback, and selling their developments back to the league for a very long time....about the length of time that Brett Farve was there with them. I wonder how many draft picks they gained in the process of developing them for two to three years and back into the league?

Good points CCboy. The Packers have drafted Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks, Craig Nall, Aaron Rogers, & Matt Flynn from 1992-2007 (plus a few others who didn't do anything). All that time they had Brett Favre but still spent picks on QBs to develop.
They always had a guy waiting to step in if needed, they were just fortunate that Favre was indestructible and they never needed one of them.
It would be interesting to see what they got from those players.

We hope you enjoy it in the club. You are welcome here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For Us long time cowboy fans we know there has been a anticowboy bias for decades now. From hall of fame voting to espn down right hatred. That's OK they always end up eating their words, sooned or later. This season it will be sooner. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've got no problem with bringing in a veteran qb as your number two, but can we get one that can throw better than my 8 year son. I never understood using your 3rd stringer qb as a filler position guy. Get a young qb talented enough, skills wise,to be good and develop him.
