The Cowboys have a long list of things that need fixing but not much time to work this week. That's because Wade Phillips has scheduled practices for only Wednesday and Thursday.
The players have today and tomorrow off and will get a three-day weekend, when they'll be free to make get-away trips without drawing Wade's wrath as long as they stay out of trouble.
"That's the way we've done every bye week that I've coached and been with other coaches," he said.
Phillips wants to give his players who have aches and pains some rest. It sure seems like a team that has lost three of four games could use some extra work, especially since the No. 2 receiver is still learning the offense and four key players will hopefully be returning from injuries.
Hey, Wade, you ever have a team enter a bye week with so many issues?
"Not that I can think of," he said.

This team needs a kick in the pants. PERIOD. They are soft and play with no heart. All of them need to be put on notice that their million dollar contracts do not guarantee them a roster spot if they do not play up to par.

I think we can set aside the 'red-neck' labels... ;D A little accountability would actually be nice to be seen. You know, some good 'ol beep beep, my arse...I want some meat type mentality. I played for Gil Steinke at Texas A&I. He groomed a very long list of professional players, to include Eugene Upshaw, Karl Douglas, Randy Johnson, Dwight Harrison, Eldridge Small, Levi Johnson, Ernest Price, David Hill, Don Hardeman...and others at the time that I was there. He once got down from an elevated platform, ran all the way across the field and knocked down an offensive lineman for missing a block and getting his quarterback, Karl Douglas at that time, knocked harshly down. No misunderstanding where he stood on issues. I could tell some tales of 'accountability' and expectation standards as well.
