When the Cowboys sign him to the top receiver contract on the Cowboys, I wonder what will be done with Roy Williams?

Maybe the fact that we didnt even spend a draft pick on Austin somehow balances out the exorbitant price we payed for RW.... I dont know.

Regarding the draft choices for Roy, I'm disappointed. Not everyone can be as shrewd as the Eagles with their draft picks and give up Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks for Mike Mamula.

Tony Romo, a franchise quality quarterback, who is putting up higher numbers than Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb and ZERO draft pick cost...kaching
Miles Austin, a #1 quality wide receiver, who is putting BETTER numbers than the 'gifted' Jackson for Philadelphia, and ZERO draft pick cost.....kaching
Then, you have the Cowboys 'robbing' a pick from Philadelphia to move up and secure Anthony Spencer. Wonder about his abilities after this season? Greg Who?.....kaching
Then one has the trading by Jerry Jones to secure the 'additional' first round pick and securing the services of none other than Mike Jenkins, who is the very next All Pro at cornerback, come next season......kaching
Oh, then there is All Pro Jay Ratliff, who came in, noooooo, not the SEVENTH round....kaching
And there was the lowly acquired cornerback, Scandrick, and uh, who's this seventh rounder Ball, who has played very strong safety in relief for the injured Ken Hamlin. Low round payoffs, and not up to that of Philadelphia?
Oooops, and who is this fourth rounder, Butler, who started this past game at outside linebacker, and who has been playing lights out and has accumulated a sizeable amount of sacks as well.....kaching
The next, none other than Ogletree, who threatens a similar situation that Miles Austin showed prior to stepping up to the plate full time, and his cost - ZERO draft picks as well.....kaching
Nope, take stock of the STRENGTH of what Jerry Jones and the Cowboy braintrust in personnel and scouting have done. That a large number of Scouting Department members have been signed off to other teams only points to the real strength in the Cowboy organization, not a weakness.
LOOK AGAIN...as many other relationships on this very roster has been omitted in this short picture, heck, look at the high number of league wide players off the Cowboy practice squad who are producers elsewhere and starting. Heck, one could start with Stephen Bowen, who has been bringing heat inside as a backup as well....no draft picks involved.
As to Roy Williams, yea, it hurt when he dropped a pass, but he usually has very good hands. His day of intense production is coming, and he well could be a dual producer of 1000+ yards receiving this next season, himself as well. This could push Tony Romo beyond where Drew Brees is for the past two seasons in production...naw, go figure again. Philadelphia....WHO?
Then one has to consider the signing of veteran players to long termed contracts and ensuring continuity of prominent players for a future on THIS team. That with a youthful set of veterans to boot. Remember the signing of DeMarcus Ware during this season? How fast Cowboy fans forget, and you would expect that from a Philadelphia fan.....such as MR COWBOY....but let's take a snap shot right now, and include free agent pickups of Keith Brooking, yea, a two year out of the league linebacker by Philadelphia really compares. Then the Cowboys have a very productive Sensabaugh at safety, and he is even playing with a cast on for the past four games. Oh, and at defensive end, is none other than Igor Olshanskky. Care to run the ball his direction? Oh yea, that is some high flying Eagle comparisons there...and Dallas STILL controls IT'S destiny, WITH a victory heads up against the Eagles. Ra........Ra!

A thanks to Nav22 from The Zone:
A quick update on Miles and where he ranks among the top WRs in the league.
Cliff Notes version:
He's going to the Pro Bowl. Well, he'll be voted in at least... hopefully he'll have a much bigger game to prepare for the following Sunday.
He has 65 catches, 1138 yards, and 11 TDs. He is 2nd in the NFC in receiving yards, just 6 yards shy of Sidney Rice. But his 11 TDs trumps Rice's 5.
Oh, and those 11 receiving TDs are tied for the NFL lead. Larry Fitzgerald and Vernon Davis also have 11.
He's also tied for the NFL lead in receptions of 20+ yards, with 20. Tied with Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne. Yep, that Andre Johnson and that Reggie Wayne.
He's on pace to finish with 74 catches, 1301 yards, and 13 TDs. This stat is a bit misleading, however, since he didn't start any of the first 4 games.
So if you based it only on the Kansas City game (his first start) and the 9 games following that one, he'd be on pace for 96 catches, 1691 yards, and 16 TDs. _________________
This is above what is being clamored in Philadelphia with their 'super rook' Jackson....

You forget that The Birds got Kolb and Stew Bradley in that deal? How about passing up Djax and Mendenhall for Felix ? - Bradley and his replacement Gaither are both gone for the season. They picked up Witherspo*on who was a good pick up , then Jordan got hurt and 'spo*on was moved outside , that's then they picked up Trotter ( mid season ) 'Moose' on Sunday's coverage said the Birds used 7 different players at the MLB position , Bobby give me 7 names the 'boys would use at MLB . Bob while you were so engrossed running down the 'boys roster the Birds quitely retooled their entire team !Ha Ha Ha ,selective amnesia ? Sapp dropped like a stone with drug questions , Brooks a LB was not a DE , which was what they were looking for.

9 All Pro teams and 18 Pro Bowls between them and you think the Eagles were better off with a guy whose name has become synomous with "buyer beware" when drafting guys based on their workout numbers JUST because he was a DE? Talon, Talon, Talon, we're both old enough where neither one of us ACTUAL believes that, right? I'll just chalk that up to a "senior moment". Yes Sapp dropped over some drug questions. How'd that work out? Bottom line, draft ability, not position

Different times , different front office , right ? ... Even Jimmy made a mistake drafting Walsh (qb) with a supplemental #1 pick right after drafting Troy , he had to wait three yrs to unload him , luckily to a sucker .

One of my biggest complaints with the blathering idiot that is Skip Bayless is that Skip was a columnist in Dallas once and he railed incessantly about how much better Steve Walsh was than Troy Aikman. Of course, Skip also wanted Mandarich instead of Aikman. Age has not improved his accuracy. God bless Jimmy. He found a sucker.

Oh, on the Felix Jones problem, I'll just live with a better than six yard a carry average when he runs the ball. By the way, he is starting to get his explosion back in his game...after his injuries. He should be full speed very shortly, as he was explosive against New Orleans. His touches just increase...and you are one to even mention a running game. Know what that is over there in Philadelphia. The Cowboys have been average well over 130 a game running the ball. And Jerry getting both Felix and Jenkins was a coupe of major proportions...and you still didn't comment about getting Spencer as well. Or the points on a good number of other players...and then, there's the loss to Dallas already this season, and Austin is outperforming Jackson; Romo out performing McNabb; and the Dallas running game excelling that of the Eagles. Maybe you should convince yourself just how strong your middle matches up to that of Dallas...Jay Ratliff, Bradie James, and Keith Brooking.
Hey, maybe a one liner bull shyte will dazzle quite a few fans around here....maybe it won't.
We'll see if Philadelphia makes it past Denver next...and Dallas has Washington. Just saying...

But we got a three draft picks from the Saints for Walsh. #1, #2, #3 That was worth the look for those years.
